New Apartments for Over-55s at Chelmund's Cross

Bellway plans to start work on 40 one and two-bedroom apartments in Fillingham Close, Chelmund's Cross, in May and the first tenants could move in by May 2015.  The scheme will address the need for smaller properties for over 55s in the area.

Bellway Sales and Marketing Director Stephen Rose said: "We are delighted to be delivering affordable homes for people in North Solihull. As well as helping tenants to escape the burden of the bedroom tax, this scheme will free up larger homes for families who need more space.

"Bellway has been a partner in North Solihull's regeneration since 2005 and we are committed to improving the area for the entire community. Our role in providing affordable homes is just as important to us as building private homes for sale."

WM Housing, North Solihull Partnership and Solihull MBC worked alongside Bellway to design apartments that catered for some of those most affected by welfare reform. The land is currently vacant following the demolition of flats, terraced houses and garages on the site. Once the build is complete WM Housing will take ownership of the apartments and manage the scheme. There will be 26 one-bedroom apartments and 14 two-bedroom apartments.
